Fire element in the bedroom
Fire (火) represents passion, visibility, warmth. Fire is the most active element and the one bedrooms need least. A warm lamp, a candle or a few red or coral accents add warmth; red walls are traditionally too stimulating for sleep.
Colours: reds, oranges, strong pinks. Shapes: triangles, points. To add fire: warm lighting, candles, a touch of red, coral or orange, triangular shapes.
Where fire sits in the cycle
- Fed by Wood: add wood to strengthen fire.
- Feeds Earth: too much fire can be softened by adding earth.
- Controlled by Water: which is why water tempers an excess.
- Controls Metal.
Signs of too much or too little fire
Too little: the qualities of fire (passion, visibility, warmth) feel missing. The room may read as flat and cool.
Too much: the room feels overheated and hard to wind down in. The traditional fix is to add earth, which fire feeds, rather than stripping everything out.
Where it belongs
On the Black Hat bagua, fire is the element of Fame & Reputation: the Fame area (far-centre, opposite the door). A touch of fire in those areas is a classic, gentle enhancement.
